Design Time!

We are taking on the task of designing the NOMAD flag, folks! We went to the fabric store to pick out material. We have ideas about how it should look, but no concrete design yet. We know that we will definitely use the NOMAD colors.

We also learned a few load-bearing building methods for our treehouse design.

Using popsicle sticks and hot glue, we attempted (and successfully completed) a building challenge. The goal was to build A structure above the ground that was strong enough to support multiple full water bottles worth of weight, have a railing, and have an entry method. Students were also required to calculate the cost of materials if each stick represented one 2 x 4.

Our designs varied in fascinating ways, but they all featured triangles – a strong building shape.

Each design met all criteria!

Our final designs cost between $135-$210!
